Biography for Trish Klenow
Trish Klenow was born and raised in a small town in northern Michigan the second of five children. The town was far from any major city, and boasted only one stoplight. It was a safe, slow-moving town. From five years of age Trish Klenow knew she wanted to make art her life. She always had a pencil or paintbrush in her hand for as long as she can remember. She began showing work and doing commissions at the age of 16.
Klenow majored in art and received her bachelors from Central Michigan University (1995). She also studied at Skidmore College in NY (Summer Six Fellowship), the Art Institute of Chicago (Teacher Institute of Contemporary Art program), and then earned a Masters in Art Education at the University of Houston, TX (2008).
Klenow has been teaching art for 23 years and currently works as an art teacher at Green Level High School in Cary, NC.
Klenow shows her work around the United States, she has had seven solo shows, and has been included in over 100 juried shows in her career. She has received over a dozen awards in art and art education.
