My work is about the search for beauty by way of allegory. The artwork begins with observation of the natural world and the people within. I focus primarily on change; passage of time in a growing child, a season, or the changing light of morning.
I paint exclusively with oils. I find the most satisfaction by working in a representational style, typically with portraits and figures. These people are sometimes known to me and sometimes anonymous. By using lucid, brighter-than-life hues, color becomes a language to convey the moods of my models. The juxtaposition of quiet people and loud colors demonstrates a peaceful contrast to the chaos of daily life.
